Some pictures of a trip to the Nasca lines :
Nasca, and more specifically the famous lines, are the destination
In order to get to Nasca from Lima, one has to cross mainly desert like terrain. However, some green can be seen as well
This is the valley of Palpa. Cotton, oranges and strawberries are grown here. Not bad considering there has only been about 2 hours of rain during the last 10 years.
The Nasca lines are made up of lines (obviously) and figures drawn out in rough vally terrain. In total there are about 35 figures, some are shown on this map.
This is the astronaut
Picture from the plane of the lines. The spider figure can be seen (sort of) right under the wing
The hummingbird (kolibri) and the shadow of the plane
This picture shows the straight lines that are abundant all over the place. The black line in the top half is the Panamericana highway
This is the desert leading into Nasca
The oasis of Huacachina can be found in Ica
It looks a bit like the Sahara
People snowboard down those huge sanddunes
The oasis itself
This is the road from Lima to Ica. The Peruvian coast is very barren
